If you require a new passport or ID card after your accreditation but before the event change the number of name in the database as soon as you have your new ID.

You are looking at the website of the Foundation for International Tug-of-War events in the Netherlands (in Dutch: Stichting Internationale Touwtrekevenementen, or SIT).

SIT was originally founded for the organization of the World Championships Tug-of-War Outdoor in 1986 which was held at De Bonte Wever in Slagharen.

Before that already two championships were held in the Netherlands

  • EC outdoor in 1969 (Borculo)
  • WC outdoor in  1975 (Doetinchem)

Since then the following events were also held at De Bonte Wever:

  • WC outdoor in 1990
  • WC outdoor in 1996
  • EC outdoor in 1999
  • WC indoor in 2000

Unfortunately a big fire destroyed De Bonte Wever and the venue for the next events had to be changed. Therefore the

  • EC outdoor in 2003
  • WC outdoor in 2006
  • EC outdoor in 2009

took place in Assen, at De Smelt.

Right now SIT is busy with the organization of the European Championships Outdoor in 2013 which will be held in Assen, at De Bonte Wever because De Smelt changed its name in De Bonte Wever.

Another change is that there are hotelrooms again.

Originally SIT started with 4 members:

  • Riekus Feijen – chairman
  • Rieki van Raaij – treasurer
  • Aukje van Raaij – secretary
  • Peter de Groot – member (TWIF representative)

When Peter de Groot stepped down as TWIF representative George Nieuwendijk took his place. Tiny Langeveld is our TWIF representative at the present time and a member of SIT as well. During time another member was added to SIT: Pieter Talsma, currently chairman of the Dutch Tug-of-War Association.

Unfortunately Riekus Feijen passed away in 2010. Riekus was a man with a big heart for Tug-of-War. He will be truly missed by all who worked with him for these many years. Organizing a European or World Championship without him will never be the same again.

Kees Lazeroms, already a boardmember of the Dutch Tug-of-War Organization was willing to take his place. Kees was already involved in the organization of some of the above mentioned events.

So at this moment SIT has 5 members:

  • Kees Lazeroms – chairman
  • Rieki van Raaij – treasurer
  • Aukje van Raaij – secretary
  • Tiny Langeveld – member (TWIF representative)
  • Pieter Talsma – member
